Jim came highly recommended by a builder we had worked with previously. We presented Jim with a very challenging project. We wanted a custom rolling, folding office table with a large, hinged table drop-leaf that can be placed within our cabinet or pulled out and expanded for meetings. The trick was that we wanted the table to look seamless when the leaf is dropped and seamless when the leaf was raised. Jim's solution was to build a rounded hinge out of the tabletop’s solid walnut. He also solved the counterbalance issue of having a heavy drop leaf by integrating an elegant steel plate into the bottom frame. This was truly a unique project. Our table is one-of-a-kind. Jim's craftsmanship and eye for detail are bar-none. More importantly, I'm convinced he can make any idea happen. He thought through our list of wants and customized a piece of furniture that become a work of art. We cannot recommend Jim Farris enough.
The journey to a custom cabinetry project can be fraught with peril (cost overruns, delays, poor communication, less-than-expected quality) but we can honestly say that our experience with Jim Farris and his team of skilled artisans was just the opposite: we could not be more pleased with the exceptional quality of our cabinets and custom master bedroom frame and nightstands, and the highly collaborative process of designing and fabricating them. On a scale of 1 to 10, we rate Jim Farris Cabinets a clear 10!
From the start, we appreciated Jim's ability to listen to what our goals were, and then translate those into extremely detailed shop drawings for review by us and our team of architects and builder. Jim walked us through each drawing in great detail to ensure that we fully understood them, frequently offering us the benefit of his accumulated wisdom and experience. He is highly collaborative, identifying and fixing potential problems as they arose while also offering creative solutions to thorny issues. We were impressed, too, with Jose and John, who fabricated and installed the cabinets and custom woodwork. They were unfailingly focused on mounting the cabinets with the same high caliber of quality as they were crafted with, as well as ensuring that we were fully satisfied with the look and operation of the installed product.
We might have found someone to do the cabinetry for less, we would not have had the great experience and wonderful outcome that we had with Jim and his team. They combined artistry with exceptional craft to produce stunningly beautiful and functional cabinets for us, and for that we are grateful. As such, we would recommend Jim Farris Cabinets without reservation for anyone looking for the best for their new home or remodel project.
Jim Farris Cabinets has built multiple projects for me or my firm over the years beginning in 1986. I have never been anything but pleased with his products and services. For example, in 1986 he built my desk which is a 23 foot combination desk and credenza for which even today I receive compliments from clients. He has built numerous other projects for me from bookcases to a home office desk to bathroom cabinets, etc. Jim is literally a genius with wood and materials as well as an incredible problem solver for the most difficult situations. His work is exquisite and never disappoints. I could not recommend him more! The date below is the last date of my utilizing his services. The amount is cumulative over the last 29 years.
