Jim Farris, a native Houstonian, with a background in Fine Art, started his own custom cabinet shop, “Jim Farris Cabinets” in 1976. He offers a gamut of woodwork using domestic and exotic woods, veneers, and laminates.

Granhold – Craftsman/Mission style Kitchen Island
The Grandholds are repeat clients. They came to me this time looking for a contrasting kitchen island. They had collected several photos with a Craftsman / Mission style to help communicate her desires. This is always a great help when going through the design process. She also wanted to make the island larger than the original. After doing some preliminary pricing I met with them in their home to make scale drawings of their existing kitchen. This home-office wall unit was actually designed around the owner’s vintage musket. The clear acrylic supports for the musket are nearly invisible.
