Jim has been building cabinets for us for about 30 years. His workmanship, precision and attention to detail are amazing. His cabinets have stood the test of time and four active kids. We keep coming back to him because no one does it better! We have used him in multiple rooms for several homes.
I reached out to Jim along with 3 other cabinetmakers to inquire about designing a dual workstation built-in and a standalone desk. The choice was easy.
Jim was the most engaged, best listener, and most thorough of the bids. (He was also the most expensive, but unlike many contracting experiences, it was very clear to me were that premium was going)
A few things made this experience noteworthy:
- Jim is the owner, designer, and principal. He was my point of contact throughout and he made me feel like his only client. This wasn’t an operation where I was being passed from sales to design to install.
- I found the design work to be exceptional. It was thorough and it was 100% clear to me exactly what I was getting. By seeing the details, it allowed me to form questions I didn’t know I had to make sure that I received what I wanted.
- Everything I mentioned in conversation was captured. If I said in passing that we were going to have a center console with a printer, a pencil sharpener, and an Alexa, then the design noted a space for a printer, pencil sharpener, and Alexa with the accompany electrical feeds. Most designers do a pretty good job listening to the client. Jim did a great job.
- I expected and got top quality craftsmanship for the cabinetry. What surprised me was the attention to detail on the ancillary work. Jim’s team had to do some tear out and discovered missing flooring – not his area of expertise. He brought in a 3rd party to add flooring to a foot well - an area largely out of sight. I was hoping for a decent match. I got a perfect match. His install team noted a couple of minor issues with shoe mold and some wall paint touch ups on their first visit that I had not noticed. They asked if they could wait until they came back out a month later when the desk was complete to address. Did they forget about this trivial matter? Of course not.
I am thrilled with the end product and I’d whole-heartedly endorse Jim and his team.
We moved into a new home about a year ago. Unsatisfied with our existing dining room buffet and unable to find a satisfactory one to purchase, we began investigating custom solutions. After researching local cabinet makers, we decided to email Jim Farris Cabinets. Within a day or two, Jim called and we discussed our needs. Jim came to the house, saw the space we were working with, listened to our conceptual ideas (our taste is modern/contemporary), and began proposing designs. This is where Jim’s artistic background and decades of experience shines through. After settling on a conceptual design, Jim proceeded to complete the detailed design, emailed it and a cost estimate to us for approval, then began work. After a few weeks, John and Jose installed the completed buffet and wall mounted shelf units, doing attentive, meticulous work. We couldn’t have been happier with the end product. Beautiful, high-quality buffet. A few months later, we again turned to Jim for a TV console/feature wall. Holy Cow! Jim had outdone himself! Unbelievable artistry and quality! 100% satisfied! For those considering using Jim and reading these testimonials, I will say this: Almost all the reviews are outstanding. They are legitimate. They are not hyperbole. We based our decision to use Jim in part on these testimonials, and things could not have worked out better. Highly recommended!!!
My experience with Jim was amazing! Coming from a design background, I knew precisely what I wanted. Jim made my dream kitchen design a reality. He not only listens and delivers what his clients want, he makes suggestions that enhance the functionality of the space. Everything from his working drawings, construction & finishes and installation, down to the smallest detail, is ABSOLUTE PERFECTION! I look forward to working with Jim again. We purchased a home and remodeled the home office. Jim designed and built the office cabinets, book shelves, and display areas. He brought a lot of good ideas and suggestions.
